Challenge

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) and AstraZeneca wished to create two education and support Websites on the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan for Medicare recipients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.

Solutions

In partnership with AstraZeneca and the National Council on Aging, DLC Solutions designed and produced MyMedicareMatters.com, an advocacy Website for Medicare recipients and their caregivers.  The Website offers a stepwise approach to understanding the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan, expert answers to frequently asked questions, and the ability to assess and compare different prescription drug plans based upon specific criteria. As part of the initiative, we worked with usability experts and conducted six rounds of usability testing to ensure the site could be easily used and understood by senior citizens of all education levels. The site remains one of the top ranked sites on Google, is available in English and Spanish, and was hailed by Dr. Mark McClellan, the former of Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, as one of the “top resources on the Web for information about Medicare Part D Drug Benefit.”

As a result of the success of MyMedicareMatters.com and ongoing confusion among healthcare providers about the drug prescription plan, AstraZeneca and NCOA further engaged DLC Solutions to create MyMedicareCommunity.com. This engaging online community was specifically designed for healthcare professionals to receive answers from experts on Part D, participate in educational programs, and share best practices with their peers.  The community continues to flourish today and provide healthcare professionals with timely, reliable information about the ever-changing Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan.
